Enjoy the exhilaration of surfing ocean waves with kayaks. North Rodney Blue Light has been providing a fun and skilled based surf kayaking introduction program for the past 20 years.
Suitable age group: 12 years of age and above.
The program uses a variety of locations including the Mangawhai, Whananaki and East coast beaches. The activity operates no more than 200 metres from shore and conditions checked regularly. We transport and use mainly our fleet of ten single Frenzy and two double Malibu “sit on “kayaks at the above locations. An IRB will also be available as back up.
The 1 – 2 hour sessions ideally suit school and community groups camp rotations. Each group consits of a maximum of 10 students and several adult volunteers.
Where possible the instructor will travel to the group prior to the event and provide a safety interactive briefing.
Our qualified instructor and organisation ensures safety is paramount and the Kayaking activity is approved under the Health and Safety in Employment (Adventure Activities)2011 legislation. Worksafe AAO Number 351
The program has OutdoorsMark accreditation.
Activity and Venue Site Specific Plans are sent to groups for their acceptance and approval prior to the event.
